I really want to be negative right now

February 26, 2008 By: Tracy Category: diary

The Wire

Positive spin: Lars and I are finally caught up with the current season. We watched 5 episodes in a row last night alone – (It’s like crack, what do you want from me?)

Negative spin: Omar?! Really? But, I… but… really?

Driving

Positive spin: Having my own car is totally convenient.

Negative spin: Speed traps at the bottom of a big hill and the $82 ticket I just paid – they suck my balls.

Work

Positive spin: Best job I’ve ever had.

Negative spin: “Content Management” sucks my balls.

Diets

Positive spin: It’s really not that bad and I’m actually losing some blubb.

Negative spin: I would take a human life for an éclairs from The Bakery.

New TV

Positive spin: Basically this tv is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever owned.

Negative spin: Post upgrade, my Tivo won’t talk to my HD cable box…and basically a life without Tivo is not a life worth living. (At least once you’ve gotten used to it).

Positive spin 2: Melissa is going to come over tonight to work some of her super-electronic-magician voo doo on that shit. She’ll make them talk, yes, she will.

Last Christmas I gave you some chips but, the very next day, you didn’t throw them away – this year to save me from tears I’ll give those chips to someone special

Hi guys! I feel like I haven’t seen you in like…two years! I feel like National Blog Post Month messed with my brain in unspeakable ways because just about the instant it was over – I started getting things done again.

Our house has been a certifiable wreck since, well since March frankly – so, as you might imagine little “projects” like laundry, vacuuming, cleaning the toilet – you know, all that unnecessary minutiae – really piled up. I mean, really. To the point where it was either address the problem or set the back half of the house on fire. Shh! Don’t tell the insurance people.

Before you go thinking the choice was easy, remember I now have two perfectly cute rooms where even if they are messy – don’t look that bad, so choosing to leave them…and Tivo for any length of time, was honestly heroic, like Braveheart – heroic. That dirty toilet may take my life, but it’ll never take my FREEDOM! If you know what I mean.

I tackled the mud room first. Holy shitballs, you guys. There were half-eaten bags of chips from LAST CHRISTMAS in there. Next, the kitchen cupboards and the refrigerator. One nasty task after the other and after 7 hours – I felt like my old, anally retentive self. Sigh.

It’s good to be back home.

November 6 is Lars’ birthday!

November 07, 2007 By: Tracy Category: diary

Lars 32 years ago today my sweetheart was born. We celebrated tonight by having dinner at Mazza and picking up his birthday present. It probably sounds un-romantic that I had him go with me to get his birthday prize, but seriously, you’ve been reading this blog, when have I had time to pick up a present?

It took me a few weeks to decide what to get him. I mean what do you buy for a 32-year-old, beautiful genius? A pony? Eh, too much work. A yacht? Mmm, not enough money left over to buy a suitable boating cap. A lap dance? Um, ew.

Tivo? Oh, yes – yes, that will do nicely. It was so much easier to set up than I thought it would be – partially thanks to Melissa’s very good advice and partially because the directions were clear and everything worked (I’m looking at you wireless router people).

After about an hour Tivo is to the Medleys as cat turds are to dogs – an addiction.
