It’s time for a refresher….
In 2007, the Medleys undertook a huge redesign/ remodel project in the front of our house and for year si was the part of the house that made us proud…. but 4 years is a long time and I’m getting itchy to spruce up my favorite space in the house.
Our poor Ikea Karlstad couch is looking shabby. The back cushions are a smooshed mess (and when you see the photos below, you’ll totally understand how they got that way. I definitely wanted a new a new cover – so, I scoured Ikea’s catalog and website first, but all of the colors/ fabrics were just blah. I wanted something versatile, durable and most of all washable, but, Ikea just wasn’t delivering.
For a minute, I gave up and started checking Craigslist, but that was a similar bust.
Then I stumbled upon something wonderful… an Etsy shop called Fresh Knesting, which led me to the seller’s website, Knesting.com. Susan, the owner makes lovely custom covers for Ikea furniture. She’s got a very lovely selection of fabrics and I instantly went bananas over the Taupe Twill. Susan has been amazing to work. She’s sent me swatches and has been super nice, even offering to send me some extra scrap fabric for the next couch refreshment I have in mind…. tufting the back cushions.
These horrid people who make me feel guilty about everything in my life took the same couch we have and made it unbearably gorgeous by having the cushions very cheaply tufted ($40) and adding new, mid-century looking legs.
And
Seriously…could this be prettier? And doesn’t it seem like the answer to our couch’s prayers?
Bwa bwa…..
Inspiration wise, I’m hoping it will look something like this when I’m done being crazy.
I’m also going to repaint our entryway and try to find a cute piece to fill the space, since the round, metal table sitting there now makes me want to curl up and die.
Look forward to pictures galore.
