I know that other-people’s dreams are about as interesting as watching Tom Cruise trim his toenails, buuuuuuuut…. I’m sorry, I just have to share. I promise I’ll be brief, but these types of random, ludicrous, disturbing dreams are truly rare enough to warrant discussion. I mean, after this one, I’m not so sure I won’t need some type of longterm therapy.

So, here goes:

Me, Lars and several friends are at Kelly & Shannon’s old apartment – only (and this part is creepy enough) we’re all hanging out on this giant bed.  Everybody is laughing and talking…whatever and then suddenly everyone is sleeping… together…in the giant bed. I’m kind dozing off when suddenly some guy lays completely on top of me. I start to panic but he tells me not to worry because he’s Steve Young (you know- famous BYU/ 49ers quarterback).

I say, “Listen, my husband is right there…. so don’t try anything.”

He puts his hand over my mouth and starts rubbing his crotch against my leg. I’m worming around trying to get away or wake Lars up, but he doesn’t budge. (Typical, “I sleep like a rock” Lars)

He whispers, “Can you feel it?” And then I sit straight up.

He’s put a giant chimp cage in the middle of the room and he’s got two, skinny, youngish men trapped inside and he’s taunting them and beating them up and also pouring colorful paint or liquid latex or something all over them (my subconscious mind borrowed that last bit directly from last week’s episode of Top Model).

We’re all screaming at him to leave the guys alone, but he just laughs, pulls out a gun and shoots the smaller one in the chest.  That’s when I woke up.

What the hell was that?

I can’t bare to have another “account” somewhere, so I’m giving Twitter “the website” a thumbs-down, while giving Twitter, the concept a thumbs up.

So here goes:

Can there be such a thing as a “better-than-sex” tuna steak?

Dear Wal-Mart,

It’s not enough to call this a well-written/ well delivered speech. I spent yesterday morning completely enveloped in the content – in the importance of embracing a leader who is unafraid to “go there”  (just like Degrassi: the Next Generation).

This speech was not a safe – it was not what we expected and it wasn’t what some wanted – but, it may be what we needed. It was straight-talk from a man who was willing to denounce ugly words of racism, but unwilling to denounce the friend who spoke them.

He spoke to the deep complexities held within our nation and when we’re being honest with ourselves, within our own families. I understand these complexities myself and like Obama, I’ve learned to embrace them because they are, as he said, a part of me and a part of my country.

When it was over, I woke Lars up to tell him he missed a great speech by President Obama.  In 37 minutes – he proved how desperately our nation needs a leader like him at its helm.

On a completely different note, I have to wonder if Obama hasn’t been watching The Wire on the campaign trail.  Seriously.

Big Joe’s Polka Show is just about the best thing ever broadcast on television and I will forever be indebted to Kelly & Shannon for sharing their satellite t.v. and this show with us.

If you spend three hours of your day helping someone with something they keep insisting they don’t need help with, but for some reason won’t let you leave  – and at the end of the three hours when you politely bow out by saying,

“Well, if you need help with anything or if you have anymore questions, feel free to give me a call”

and they respond with,

“Who are you again?”

That’s rude, right?

I’m still not feeling particularly loquacious, so more “show and tell” type blogging is what you get – and you’ll like it too.

Right now I’m obsessively painting some “art” for my living room – well, not right now, right now I’m at work, but you know what I mean. Our living room has had plain-Jane walls for long enough, but I’m too impatient to wait to find or be able to afford art, so I’m making my own. I’ve done a significant amount of work in the living room, so as soon as I finish this project I’ll try to photograph everything – cos like, of course you want to see. La doy.
